Redefining Practice Management This software is an innovative tool designed for all behavioral health care practices. The heart of GoalMinder is its ability to quantify previously elusive endpoints, such as progress in psychotherapy or improvement in pain management. This capability assists the health care provider in delivering high quality, cost-effective treatment and in monitoring the effectiveness of the intervention as it is occurring. GoalMinder data can alert the therapist to the need for additional interventions, modification of techniques, or termination of treatment. The data can also be used to evaluate providers and programs. Moreover, the data becomes a rich research base which can be applied to both practical and scientific questions regarding treatment efficacy.
Making Good Therapists Great Therapists GoalMinder technology results in provider, patient and payer all benefiting significantly and resolving so-called business vs. medical ethics dilemmas. GoalMinder's approach is welcomed by the patient, is used enthusiastically by the clinician, and is endorsed by HMO and PPO managers because of a dramatic enhancement of behavioral health care delivery in an appropriate, cost-conscious manner. For the clinician, GoalMinder assists or "shapes" the therapist in offering high-quality care, continuous quality assurance tracking, and state-of-the-art record keeping with minimum effort. GoalMinder monitors a patient's progress with easily understood, colorful graphs and provides statistical assistance in determining whether the therapy is resulting in significant progress. In addition, GoalMinder generates intake, progress, and termination reports automatically. The clinician asks from 8-18 standardized rating questions during sessions, taking about 5 minutes to do so. Eighteen different "problem cluster" rating surveys are currently available; the therapist utilizes the problem cluster reflecting the diagnosistc problem under treatment. These ratings are used by GoalMinder to analyze symptom changes. Record-keeping duties are further enhanced by GoalMinder's remarkable ability to write progress notes directly from the clinician's dictation, using IBM's VoiceType Dictation 3.0 technology. From the patient's point of view, GoalMinder helps the individual from the very first session to focus on attainable goals, to realize assets already possessed, and to clarify what the symptoms and issues are. The patient leaves his/her sessions with a graph of progress, a feeling of being understood, and with a specific set of tasks to begin realizing therapy goals. From the payer's point of view, users of GoalMinder produce more efficient results and generate high patient satisfaction surveys. Administrators can determine how a given clinic is doing relative to others with actual progress data instead of just number of sessions "consumed". They can see per diagnosis what the needs are for patients, and indeed whether individual cases are being handled in the best manner. The payer is assured that the practitioner is using efficient, high quality approaches to problems and that the patient is being well served. The expected outcome is fewer sessions, better results, less cost, and fewer resources devoted to managing the providers. |
