January 26, 2010

Joan Alschuler presented "Mystery! Comedy! Drama! Figuring Out Your Teen's Brain" to parents and teachers at the Kromrey Middle School PTA in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District. Here's some feedback about how it went from one of the attendees: Thank you so much for presenting last week at our January PTA program at Kromrey. I could have sat and listened for another hour. I learned a lot and I think the other parents really appreciated your presentation as well.

Gary Sater and David Goldfoot presented a 3-hour training seminar entitled "Sexual abuse by educators in our middle and secondary schools" at the Wisconsin School Psychologists Association Convention held at the Wilderness Hotel in The Dells, Wisconsin. The presentation is available in Powerpoint format to attendees through this link to our downloads page. Permission is hereby given to school psychologists employed in Wisconsin to use these materials for non-profit purposes to train staff regarding awareness and prevention of educator sexual misconduct in our schools.


May 16-17, 2009

David Goldfoot, PhD, presented an intense 12-hour workshop at Infinite Relationships in Verona, Wisconsin, entitled "Recovery from infidelity" based on his many years of working with couples where there has been betrayal through sexual misconduct. David reports that the workshop was well received. He plans to repeart this workshop at a later date. Call for information at Infinite Relationships, 608.848.8000.

Joan Alschuler Presented "A team approach to working with schools" in a seminar sponsored by the State Bar of Wisconsin for attorneys training to be Guardians Ad Litem (GAL, guardians appointed by the court to protect the interest of a minor or incompetent individual, such as a child or person with diminished mental capacities).


February 27, 2009

Gary Sater, PhD, a partner at MHS, is traveling with the UW Men's Hockey Team this weekend as their sports psychologist. Gary has been the "rink shrink" for the UW men's hockey program for the past two seasons and reports that this is a very rewarding expansion of his practice. Go Badgers!

Joan ALschuler recently presented "Teen brain: a work in progress" to parents and teachers at the Kromrey Midle School PTA. In attendence were parents and teachers from Glacier Creek Middle School and some Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District teaching staff.

Deb Hughes, PsyD, is finishing her postdoctoral training in neuropsychology and is leaving us for a position in Hawaii at the end of the month. Can't say we aren't envious! Good Luck Deb and mahalo for all your good work with us!

Gary Sater, PhD, recently earned the distinction of Certified Consultant by the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), the professional organization of sport and exercise psychology. Professionals who have earned the designation of Certified Consultant, AASP, have met a high standard of education and training in the sport sciences and in psychology. July, 2008

Lorraine Broll, PhD and David Goldfoot, PhD completed a 5-day training course with Jeffrey Young, PhD on "Applications of schema therapy to couples counseling." They both rate the training as excellent and note that the location -- Cape Cod -- was a wonderful environment to be during an intense week of training. David is incorporating Schema approaches into his work with sexual addictions and reports that this is a very powerful addition to the services that he provides in that area.  For more information about schema therapy, try this link: www.schematherapy.com.
